Emre Dundar

Emre Dündar is a Berlin-based composer, pianist, and improviser whose work spans concert music, film, theatre, installation, and radio. In addition to composing solo, chamber, orchestral, vocal, and choral works, he is a cross-disciplinary art curator, concept structuralist, and seasoned art director in the media industry. Since 2013, he has also served as Art Director for Acid Creative and Lacivert Film, shaping the visual and conceptual direction of numerous productions. His creative practice blends acoustic and electro-acoustic mediums, drawing on diverse techniques from polystylism to spectralism, always shaped by the rhetorical and aesthetic context of each piece.

Performances of his work have reached audiences across Europe, Asia, and North Africa, with appearances in countries including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Norway, Greece, Russia, Japan, and his native Turkey. Deeply influenced by the linguistic and cultural intersections of Istanbul, Dündar collects “language prints” from the many tongues he has encountered and weaves them into his compositions, creating a distinctive narrative-driven musical language.

Rooted in ancient rhetorical traditions, his music treats narration as both structure and substance, often shaped by the poetics and formal challenges of verse. This narrative sensibility, combined with his curatorial vision and experience in directing complex media projects, gives his work a rare capacity to connect ideas, disciplines, and audiences.
